America First: Navigating Nationalism against Globalism

The political landscape in the United States has undergone a seismic shift over the past several years, pivoting towards a movement characterized by nationalism encapsulated in the America First Movement. When Donald J. Trump first emerged down the golden escalators of Trump Tower on June 16, 2015, nobody knew what to expect. The sentiment around breaking the global governance system had a quiet but overwhelming precedent, as the people of America saw Donald J. Trump as their last shot at preserving America as the world's beacon of light.

Our movement has not only reshaped domestic policies but also redefined international relationships. Ronald Reagan's vision of America First throughout the 1980s focused on bolstering national pride and reducing reliance on foreign powers. This vision resonates more than ever today amongst the conservative movement, as the battle between freedom and global control has reached a boiling point. In examining the rise of America First, we explore the tensions between nationalism and globalism, its impact on international relations, and the spectrum of support and opposition from globalist entities.

Nationalism vs. Globalism

The America First nationalist agenda starkly contrasts with the concept of globalism, as globalism advocates for greater international cooperation, open borders, and unconditional free trade despite the circumstances of any given nation. While globalism emphasizes interconnectedness and shared responsibility among nations, nationalism promotes the idea of self-reliance and prioritization of national identity. Globalism single-handedly is revealing itself to be the single greatest threat standing in opposition to independent and free nations, with the United States of America posed as its archnemesis. Highlighted here is a prime example that epitomizes the globalist narrative, from the World Economic Forum.

Globalism often leads to the erosion of national sovereignty, particularly surrounding decisions affecting domestic affairs that are always influenced by external entities and the global elites. The results often lead to policies concocted by international organizations that don't reflect the best interests of a nation's people, more specifically, the unique needs of American citizens. This conflict between nationalism and globalism is particularly pronounced in immigration, trade, and climate change policies. Not once but twice, Donald J. Trump has removed the United States from the Paris Climate Accord, which crushed American prosperity and self-reliance. The biased policy formed by the United Nations highlights the problematic nature of Globalism.

Impact on International Relations

The rise of American nationalism under the Make America Great Again banner has significantly impacted international relations and shaken the world's pecking order. Traditional alliances and cooperative agreements have faced scrutiny, leading to a whole new standpoint adopted by the United States. This is exemplified by how America now engages with the world in trade and security, particularly the fairness around national security. In 2018, Donald Trump exposed NATO, as the contribution balance from participating countries was highlighted as delinquent. This was one of the first prominent global call-outs led by a true nationalist leader in decades.

The MAGA movement advocating for the America First policy regime is not without pushback and constant criticism from the press. Ultra-liberal opponents argue that fierce America First policy undermines the critical global partnerships necessary for addressing transnational challenges, such as terrorism and global pandemics. Despite America's downward spiral over the last 50 years, critics contest that nationalism at the forefront of lawmaking and policy creation can lead to isolationism and rejection of the benefits of robust international collaboration. The misconception that a nationalism-centric approach leads to human rights abuses and a disregard for global justice is a highly inflated topic. This notion is perpetuated by extreme left-leaning groups that have globalist interests at play, with data correlating to human rights abuses and nationalism being hard-pressed to find.

The Rise of America First

The America First agenda was initially inspired by grassroots sentiment that has now emerged as a widely accepted set of beliefs that the political establishment had failed to recognize and give credence to. The rise of the MAGA movement can be pinpointed to several socioeconomic issues. The lack of stable employment in America due to the mass outsourcing of manufacturing to foreign nations led to a massive decline in job creation. The America First Agenda has promised and delivered in revitalizing American industries, restoring jobs, and fostering a sense of national pride. The weakened state of political integrity from Washington coincided with the heightened risk of national security breaches that have become the norm. These factors were instrumental in forming the modern MAGA movement and the desire for America First policies.

The Make America Great Again slogan has now become a staple across the USA and widely recognizable abroad since Donald Trump entered the political arena. The movement garnered mass support amongst segments of the American population who felt marginalized by traditional political discourse. Working and middle-class Americans are the backbone of our movement and are the heart and soul behind the American revival. This is a 180-degree transformation as Donald Trump leads the republican party as the party of the working class that was once a Democratic stronghold.
