Evolution of The Trump organization
The Trump Org. is a modern-day symbol of wealth, luxury, and
entrepreneurship but the early days of the Trump Organization were founded by hard work and humble beginnings in challenging economic times. Fredrick and Mary Trump were the pioneers of what would become the Trump Organization with the origins dating back to 1927. The family business of residential real estate has countless fond tales of Mary Trump brokering finance deals whilst Frederick Trump was in the hustle and bustle of 20th-century NYC underpinning operations.
Frederick Trump built vast wealth through ventures ranging from restaurants, hotels, and numerous real estate deals which laid the groundwork for the family business. Frederick Trump was the inception of the family's real estate legacy predominantly through developing housing projects in New York City throughout Queens and Brooklyn. In the fullness of time, the organization has evolved into a multifaceted conglomerate encompassing real estate, hospitality, entertainment, and more that has been spearheaded by Donald J. Trump.
A young Donald Trump officially joined the Trump Organization in 1968 and took the reins of the family business in 1971. Trump continued the expansion of residential complexes in Queens and Brooklyn, however, Donald Trump’s ambition and desire was to break into the lucrative Manhattan real-estate market. From the 1970’s up until the late 1980’s The Trump Organization dominated the commercial real estate market in Manhattan. The acquisition of the Iconic Trump Tower in 1979, which is the headquarters of the Trump Organization today, is considered one of the most prolific real estate developments in New York of the 20th century.
In 1988 the Trump Organization acquired the Plaza Hotel on 768 Fifth Avenue along with the Commodore Hotel which underwent major renovations to be the Grand Hyatt Hotel in 1976. The acquisition of Prime real estate in Manhattan under Donald Trump’s vision is the driving force that transformed the Trump Organization and the Trump brand into the multi-billion dollar success it is today.
The Trump Organization is comprised of approximately 500 business entities. Businesses inclusive of the Trump Organization are expansive and diverse. From hospitality, brand licensing, retail, entertainment, hotel management, and many more business models that operate under the Trump Organization. In 2017 Donald Trump handed down the Trump Organization to Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump as he was elected to serve as President of the United States of America. Donald Trump's entry into politics significantly impacted the Trump Organization's trajectory as his presence drew heightened scrutiny of his business dealings during the 2016 election cycle and beyond.
